The topic of this class will be &#8216;Diminished Reality&#8217;.\u00a0There are some references and papers out there. Unfortunately, most of them are very technical and focus on some sub-problem, eg tracking.\u00a0What I want you to do instead is:<\/p>\n<p>First, watch <a title=\"Diminished Reality\" href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=FgTq-AgYlTE\">this video<\/a>. This explains the idea of diminished reality pretty well. Then, there are also <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=aBf0NGGCMOk\">these<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=DGNtUeNiwBM\">videos<\/a>, or search youtube for &#8216;diminished reality&#8217;.<\/p>\n<p>Related to the idea of &#8216;Diminished Reality&#8217; is the recent paper titled &#8216;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?sa=t&amp;rct=j&amp;q=&amp;esrc=s&amp;source=web&amp;cd=1&amp;cad=rja&amp;uact=8&amp;ved=0CCgQFjAA&amp;url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.cs.indiana.edu%2F~kapadia%2Fpapers%2Fplaceavoider-ndss14.pdf&amp;ei=8qcwU_THEqfuyQHMyYHQDQ&amp;usg=AFQjCNFOyKp6uMZwqAWH2MXQ6uCAfObRzw&amp;sig2=56MeRMG-2KSOB8wi3FAqRw&amp;bvm=bv.62922401,d.aWc\">Place Avoider<\/a>&#8216;. Avoid all the technical stuff and just read the first three pages and from page 12 on. One response to the paper is found on <a href=\"http:\/\/www.technologyreview.com\/news\/523941\/not-ok-glass\/\">MIT Technology Review<\/a>, have a look at it.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Some questions<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>What is the principle idea behind Diminished Reality?<\/li>\n<li>Is it necessary? If so, why?<\/li>\n<li>What could be (technical) drawbacks of this method? Does it work with all kinds of displays?<\/li>\n<li>How does this relate to AR\/MR\/VR?
