href=\"http:\/\/blogs.discovery.wisc.edu\/designinvr-14\/files\/2014\/05\/IMG_0212.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" alt=\"IMG_0212\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.discovery.wisc.edu\/designinvr-14\/files\/2014\/05\/IMG_0212-300x225.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>3) click the PS3 icon on the computer<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.discovery.wisc.edu\/designinvr-14\/files\/2014\/05\/IMG_0211.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" alt=\"IMG_0211\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.discovery.wisc.edu\/designinvr-14\/files\/2014\/05\/IMG_0211-300x225.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>4) You will be prompted for a password.\u00a0 It is on the pink sticky on the desk<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.discovery.wisc.edu\/designinvr-14\/files\/2014\/05\/IMG_0210.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" alt=\"IMG_0210\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.discovery.wisc.edu\/designinvr-14\/files\/2014\/05\/IMG_0210-300x225.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>5) You will now be prompted to push the PS button.\u00a0 Press and hold it down until the controller shakes.\u00a0 This means it is now ready to go.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.discovery.wisc.edu\/designinvr-14\/files\/2014\/05\/IMG_02131.jpg\"><img on the system<\/h1>\n<p>1) The screens should be blacked out when you come in<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.discovery.wisc.edu\/designinvr-14\/files\/2014\/05\/IMG_0222.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" alt=\"IMG_0222\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.discovery.wisc.edu\/designinvr-14\/files\/2014\/05\/IMG_0222-300x225.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>2) Go to the machine in the back of the room<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.discovery.wisc.edu\/designinvr-14\/files\/2014\/05\/IMG_0205.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" alt=\"IMG_0205\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.discovery.wisc.edu\/designinvr-14\/files\/2014\/05\/IMG_0205-300x225.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>3) Click the green button on the top bar<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.discovery.wisc.edu\/designinvr-14\/files\/2014\/05\/IMG_0206.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" alt=\"IMG_0206\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.discovery.wisc.edu\/designinvr-14\/files\/2014\/05\/IMG_0206-300x225.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>4) Now the screens should be on<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.discovery.wisc.edu\/designinvr-14\/files\/2014\/05\/IMG_0221.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" alt=\"IMG_0221\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.discovery.wisc.edu\/designinvr-14\/files\/2014\/05\/IMG_0221-300x225.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h1 id=\"head_on\">Turn on the head tracking (only if necessary)<\/h1>\n<p>This should be running automatically.\u00a0 If it isn&#8217;t you may need to start the tracking server.<\/p>\n<p>1) The head tracking is run from another machine.\u00a0 To access it click the VNC icon<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.discovery.wisc.edu\/designinvr-14\/files\/2014\/05\/IMG_02081.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" alt=\"IMG_0208\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.discovery.wisc.edu\/designinvr-14\/files\/2014\/05\/IMG_02081-300x225.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>2)\u00a0 You will be prompted for a password.\u00a0 It is on the pink sticky note<\/p>\n<p>3) I unfortunately don&#8217;t have screenshots for these next steps yet.\u00a0 The SkeletonApp should be ready to go.\u00a0 To run it either press F5 or click the green run triangle.<\/p>\n<p>4) When running, change the tracking to &#8220;sticky 1 player&#8221;<\/p>\n<h1 id=\"3d_on\">Turning on 3D<\/h1>\n<p>1) Click the glasses in the top bar<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.discovery.wisc.edu\/designinvr-14\/files\/2014\/05\/IMG_0206.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" alt=\"IMG_0206\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.discovery.wisc.edu\/designinvr-14\/files\/2014\/05\/IMG_0206-300x225.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>2) Uses the &#8220;aviator&#8221; style glasses.\u00a0 These are designed for the system.\u00a0 The other glasses will not work optimally.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.discovery.wisc.edu\/designinvr-14\/files\/2014\/05\/IMG_02231.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" alt=\"IMG_0223\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.discovery.wisc.edu\/designinvr-14\/files\/2014\/05\/IMG_02231-300x225.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h1 id=\"move_data\">Moving your data to the system<\/h1>\n<p>1) All of your code, applications and code need to be put on the &#8220;dscvr&#8221; mount.\u00a0 This can be found by clicking the link on the side of the window or through the path &#8220;\/mnt\/dscvr\/&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.discovery.wisc.edu\/designinvr-14\/files\/2014\/05\/IMG_0218.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" alt=\"IMG_0218\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.discovery.wisc.edu\/designinvr-14\/files\/2014\/05\/IMG_0218-300x225.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h1 id=\"launch_app\">Launching your Application<\/h1>\n<p>1) There are a few shortcuts to launch apps.\u00a0 You can look at how these are setup by right clicking on them and choosing properties.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.discovery.wisc.edu\/designinvr-14\/files\/2014\/05\/IMG_0217.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" alt=\"IMG_0217\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.discovery.wisc.edu\/designinvr-14\/files\/2014\/05\/IMG_0217-300x225.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/><\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>2) If you would like to launch your application from a terminal, open up a window.\u00a0 Either right-click on the desktop or click the icon to the left of the green circle icon<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.discovery.wisc.edu\/designinvr-14\/files\/2014\/05\/IMG_0206.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" alt=\"IMG_0206\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.discovery.wisc.edu\/designinvr-14\/files\/2014\/05\/IMG_0206-300x225.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>In the terminal type<\/p>\n<p><em>csastart [path to application] [parameters]<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Here is an example<\/p>\n<p><em>csastart ~\/dscvr\/apps\/SkeletonApp\/SkeletonApp ~\/dscvr\/data\/exampleData<\/em><\/p>\n<h1 id=\"exiting_app\">Exiting the Application<\/h1>\n<p>1) To exit the application, press the escape key<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.discovery.wisc.edu\/designinvr-14\/files\/2014\/05\/IMG_0216.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" work, you can force close the application by typing these commands into a terminal window<\/p>\n<p><em>tentakel killall -9 [application name]<\/em><em>killall -9 [application name]<\/em><\/p>\n<p>for example<\/p>\n<p><em>tentakel killall -9 SkeletonApp<br \/>\n<\/em><em>killall -9 SkeletonApp<\/em><\/p>\n<h1 id=\"reboot\">Rebooting the System (Only if things go horribly wrong)<\/h1>\n<p>1) You can reboot the system by typing these two commands into a terminal<\/p>\n<p><em>tentakel reboot<br \/>\n<\/em><em>reboot<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.discovery.wisc.edu\/designinvr-14\/files\/2014\/05\/IMG_0214.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" alt=\"IMG_0214\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.discovery.wisc.edu\/designinvr-14\/files\/2014\/05\/IMG_0214-300x225.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/><\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<h1 id=\"shut_down\">Shutting down the System (things to do before you leave)<\/h1>\n<p>1) Make sure your application is closed (i.e. you see a blue background)<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.discovery.wisc.edu\/designinvr-14\/files\/2014\/05\/IMG_0221.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" alt=\"IMG_0221\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.discovery.wisc.edu\/designinvr-14\/files\/2014\/05\/IMG_0221-300x225.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>2) Turn off the monitors by clicking the red icon<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.discovery.wisc.edu\/designinvr-14\/files\/2014\/05\/IMG_0217.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" alt=\"IMG_0217\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.discovery.wisc.edu\/designinvr-14\/files\/2014\/05\/IMG_0217-300x225.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/><\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>3) Now the monitors should be turned
