{"id":654,"date":"2015-02-01T01:01:11","date_gmt":"2015-02-01T01:01:11","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.discovery.wisc.edu\/projects\/?p=654"},"modified":"2015-02-16T20:23:33","modified_gmt":"2015-02-16T20:23:33","slug":"212015-teb-update","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.discovery.wisc.edu\/projects\/2015\/02\/01\/212015-teb-update\/","title":{"rendered":"2\/1\/2015 TEB Update"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>What I accomplished this week<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Finished moving into the new office<\/li>\n<li>Ordered the rest of the equipment and tools needed to complete my research<\/li>\n<li>Populated the PCB with all the surface mount components. The process is as follows\n<ul>\n<li>Apply solder paste to component pads<\/li>\n<li>Using tweezers, place components onto pads<\/li>\n<li>Preheat oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit<\/li>\n<li>Place PCB in oven and wait a few minutes until you see the components &#8216;pop&#8217; into place<\/li>\n<li>Remove PCB and inspect joints. Use solder wick to remove solder if there is excess amounts and\/or solder bridges<\/li>\n<li>Clean PCB of remaining flux using toothbrush and isopropyl alcohol<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Problems<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Accidentally snapped a pin off the slide switch which rendered it as useless so I had to purchase more<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Next week\u2019s work<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Solder\u00a0the slide switch, push buttons and headers to PCB<\/li>\n<li>Test PCB for functionality (Any fried components or smoke coming from PCB?)<\/li>\n<li>Conduct electrical measurements using multimeter<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Below is an image of the board for prototype 1.2<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.discovery.wisc.edu\/projects\/files\/2015\/02\/IMG_20150131_132557529.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-726 \" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.discovery.wisc.edu\/projects\/files\/2015\/02\/IMG_20150131_132557529-e1424118183443-727x1024.jpg\" alt=\"IMG_20150131_132557529\" width=\"306\" height=\"427\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>What I accomplished this week Finished moving into the new office Ordered the rest of the equipment and tools needed to complete my research Populated the PCB with all the surface mount components.
