{"id":201,"date":"2015-10-01T16:44:51","date_gmt":"2015-10-01T21:44:51","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.discovery.wisc.edu\/vr2015\/?p=201"},"modified":"2015-10-01T16:52:59","modified_gmt":"2015-10-01T21:52:59","slug":"assignment-2-individual-project-pitch","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.discovery.wisc.edu\/vr2015\/2015\/10\/01\/assignment-2-individual-project-pitch\/","title":{"rendered":"Assignment 2: Individual Project Pitch"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Due for Class\u00a010\/8\/15<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This is assignment is to give a pitch for a project you would be interested in pursuing.\u00a0 You will give roughly a 5 minute presentation in class.\u00a0 Things you should cover in your presentation:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>What you proposing to attempt. \u00a0Is it an experience, an experiment, a game, etc<\/li>\n<li>Why you think this project would be interesting<\/li>\n<li>What device(s) you would consider using (e.g. the Oculus Rift, the CAVE, Google Cardboard, etc)<\/li>\n<li>Things you think you know how to do<\/li>\n<li>Things you don\u2019t think you know how to do<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>After you finish the presentation we will open up for questions.\u00a0 Pay attention to everyone\u00a0 presentations.\u00a0 After class I will have you email me:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Two to three projects you would be interested on working on<\/li>\n<li>Projects you would definitely not want to work on<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Here is an FAQ\u00a0<em>\u00a0<\/em><\/strong><em>(note:<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>I will try to update it as questions arise)<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Do I need to know how to do what I pitching?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>At this stage we will work a very conceptual level. \u00a0Don\u2019t worry if you have no idea of how to implement your idea. \u00a0That type of thinking will be for when we split up into teams.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Have projects generated in this class been used beyond class?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Yes, they have. Two projects have turned into showcase pieces being the <a href=\"http:\/\/graphics.cs.wisc.edu\/WP\/virtualreality11\/2011\/03\/30\/the-galaxy-map-project\/\">galaxy visualization<\/a> and the <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.discovery.wisc.edu\/ds501\/category\/projects\/ski-mountain-blog\/\">ski mountain experience<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What kind of ideas have worked in the
