Team name: RPG team (title of game to be determined)

Group: Amarah Sharif, Matt Binza, Mais Aleis

Description:

This project revolves around breaking some of the standard tropes of most role-playing games by breaking boundaries with VR technology. Similar to a “choose your own adventure” type of story,  the users will figure out that they can either kill the monster or find alternatives to progress.  You can click on the menu options and fight the monster like a standard turn-based RPG, or you can choose to walk outside of the boundaries of the fight and explore the area around you.  By leaving the fighting zone, the the player will notice that the environment  provides a ways to resolve confrontations without violence.  This may include manipulating the environment, finding items, or even discovering new words to add to the menu screen. Based on the gamer’s choices, they will find out that their actions affect the ending.  We ultimately want to place the user in a situation where they are given a choice.  We hope that the user ends up reflecting on personal morality, the consequences of violent actions, and the importance of thinking outside the box to solve problems.

Equipment to be used:

Computers (we have)

Unity (we have)

HTC Vive (we don’t have)

What we know how to do:

Programming in JavaScript and C, basic Unity knowledge, previous experience with storyboarding, creating Flash/Javascript games, and music production.

What we don’t know how to do:

Programming for the HTC Vive, and we do not know the full extent of how to use Unity.

C# might be a bit different than C

First steps:

  1. Gain familiar with programming in Unity through making practice scenes
  2. Create a storyboard and characters.
  3. After 1 and 2 are good, get started with designing an animated backstory for user, and 1st stage with enemy and options.
  4.  Design definitive puzzle structure(s).
