Outside the box: a short RPG (Matt)

Project Description:

This project revolves around breaking some of the standard tropes of most role-playing games by breaking boundaries with VR technology.  At the beginning of the game, you are confronted by a monster as a menu appears before you.  You can click on the menu options and fight the monster like a standard turn-based RPG, or you can choose to walk outside of the boundaries of the fight and explore the area around you.  By leaving the fighting zone, the game now becomes a puzzle to try and figure out how to resolve this confrontation without violence.  This may include manipulating the environment, finding items, or even discovering new words to add to the menu screen.  Fighting the monster results in one ending, while solving the puzzle without violence results in another.

Project Type:

Video Game

Interest:

This is a project that I would like to work on.

Device(s) to Be Used:

HTC Vive

Things I Know How To Do:

I have designed a few short video games before (2D), I have experience in coding, and I have a little bit of background in digital art.

Things I Would Need Help With:

Unity is new to me, and while I am willing to learn it, I would need a group of people to help.  I have only worked with setting up a headset for personal enjoyment and not for development.  vr
