- What each individual in the group worked on over the last week:
- We all spent time together in capturing 360 videos, uploading them to facebook, 360fly director, oculus video.
- We also tested to see if we should create 60 video player in Unity and play the captured 360 videos there but it makes it more complicated than we thought.
- A description of the accomplishments made
- Finished our exploratory analysis on how to use 360Fly, Oculus Rift with different settings
- Able to get some kind of communication with the Campus/Visitor desk. Awaiting reply.
- Figured out that there is no really easy way to fix the orientation of the video captured using 360fly.
- A description of the problems encountered (this section may be short for this week as we are still very early)
- Our orientation of the 360 cameras were off, the 360fly camera tends to distort the video when being watched using the Oculus. We feel that the Theta camera will avoid this problem as it permits a full 360 capture.
- Tried uploading the video to youtube, but we need to purchase virtual desktop app to watch youtube videos in oculus.
- Tried uploading 360 video in facebook and linking facebook account to oculus rift since facebook does some processing for the videos like adding metadata and sphere , but the uploaded video doesn’t show up in the video app of oculus
- Tried the 360 fly camera with tripod as well to see if that was the issue for orientation
- Plans for the upcoming week
- Get the theta 360 camera and start capturing the videos
- Finalize a conversation with the Campus & Visitor office ASAP. Delays in communications have contributed to a delay in video capture.
- Plan the potential places where footage will happen.
- Need a multidirectional microphone given that the 360fly microphone was weak in picking up audio
- Ask for a 360 drone? (To provide an aerial 360 view of campus?)
- At least one piece of media related to your work (image, video, audio, etc)
